Last summer, I had an unforgettable experience that has deeply influenced me. It all started when my school organized a volunteer trip to a small village near the mountains. The purpose of this journey was to help the local children with their studies and bring them some joy.
When we arrived at the village, I was struck by its simplicity. The houses were made of mud bricks, and the villagers lived a life far different from mine. However, despite their limited resources, the children's eyes sparkled with curiosity and hope. They were eager to learn, but due to the lack of teachers, they often had to study on their own.
I was paired with a girl named Mei. She was shy at first, but as we worked together, her confidence grew. We spent hours reading books, practicing math problems, and drawing pictures. Every time she solved a difficult problem or read a sentence fluently, her face lit up with pride. It was such a rewarding feeling to see her progress.
Apart from studying, we also played games and sang songs together. These moments created a bond between us, making our friendship stronger. Before leaving, Mei gave me a handmade bookmark as a gift. It was simple yet meaningful, symbolizing our shared memories.
This experience taught me the importance of kindness and perseverance. Although I didn't change the world, I made a difference in one little girl's life. Looking back, I realize how lucky I am to have had this chance to give back to society. It is an experience I will cherish forever.
